Role description

As a Control Engineer you will be part of the Software development team in the Silk-FAW Software & Electronics unit.
The Control Engineer is responsible for the development of the chassis controls, the electrified drivetrain controls and ADAS controls for all supercar EV Platform, facilitating the development of vehicle performance.
Moreover works closely with the vehicle dynamic team, simulations, software integration and all vehicle groups to design and develop advanced control systems matching or exceeding customer expectations, while considering the intrinsic embedded nature of the final solution.

  • Create innovative control system solutions based on the requirements of other technical user groups
  • Identifying the most efficient controls strategy to manage vehicle dynamic, energy flows of the electrified drivetrain, ADAS
  • Lead implementation and delivery of integrated co-simulation packages to enable virtual vehicle controls design, development, and validation
  • Define the control system requirements, software specifications and software structure for automotive applications
  • Delivers work in an efficient and timely manner in completion of specific project milestones
  • Interfaces with software engineering and other departments to facilitate the development process of control systems
  • Reviews progress of projects and provides frequent progress updates to direct manager
  • Leads or contributes to Functional Safety relevant software functions in accordance to ISO26262
  • Travel, as necessary, to other development sites

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Software Engineering or other relevant engineering subject
  • Experience working in embedded software development teams, delivering solutions to complex problems
  • Experience in developing controls systems using Model Based Design and Matlab/Simulink
  • Experience in simulation of Vehicle Dynamic, Vehicle models, dynamic models with electro-mechanical and hydraulic actuators
  • Knowledge of the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and willingness to own delivery from requirement analysis to deployment
  • Experience in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning is a plus
  • Highly motivated individual able to use initiative to resolve development impediments
  • Excellent analytical abilities and extensive amount of independent thinking are required
  • Experience managing key stakeholder relationships
  • Ability to work with a variety of client settings and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge in Vehicle Dynamics principles and functions; Automatic Control theory; Adaptive controls; Advanced Driver Assistance Systems; Electric and Hybrid-Electric vehicles architectures and controls
  • Experience using MATLAB® Model-Based Design, C, C++ for embedded control systems and a good understanding of Electronic components
  • Strong knowledge of Virtual prototyping / MIL / SIL / HIL principles and Model-Based Design experience using MATLAB® Simulink/Stateflow
  • Experience in real-time rapid control prototyping (dSpace, NI etc.)
  • Experience with online vehicle calibration (Control Desk, INCA, Vector tools etc.)
  • Good knowledge of configuration management tools such as Git or equivalent
